2022 career reflection: A catastrophe

2022 has been a landmark year for me in my career, but not for good reasons. There have been a few ups that were quickly followed by some steep downs. But the downs are to be learned from, and I’ve learned a lot and had a lot of feelings I’ve had for a long time about work in general proven right.

4 jobs

I’ve had 4 jobs this year, which I’m not happy about but at least I’ve landed the best-paying job I’ve ever had at the end. I’m still not getting paid my worth as the wages in the UK are garbage, but it’s a step in the right direction.

I’ve had 4 jobs due to essentially being forced out of my previous 3. I’ve never worked at a string of hostile companies like this before, but looking back there’s a real reason each of them didn’t work. It’s not just an unlucky chain of events.

Being bullied in the workplace

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such xenophobia or attempted bullying in the workplace before. The good thing is that I’ve put myself in a position where I don’t have to put up with it.

I can handle work-related issues, but I can’t handle people hating me for who I am or where I’m from, especially when they themselves are mutants.
