4 Signs of a Bad Interviewer
Job interviews suck at the best of times. They’re something that you just want to get through as quickly as possible and then dip out of before the employer notices how much of an incompetent fuck you are.
Job interviews don’t always suck because of you or the format. Sometimes they suck because of the interviewer, and a lot of interviewers don’t seem to take this into consideration.
Just as much as the interviewee is supposed to be impressing the interviewer, the interviewer needs to impress the interviewee and sell the company. Not everyone is desperate, some people have options and won’t take your job if you’re disrespectful.
They’re Passive Aggressive
Being passive-aggressive as an interviewer says to me that you’re so much of a prick that you can’t even hide it for half an hour. I’ve had several passive-aggressive interviewers and to my surprise, on occasion, I’ve made it to the next round. In fact, on 1 occasion, I got the job.
The interview where I got the job was with two guys, one was young and Dutch, the other was an older bald gentleman. The older guy was the secondary interviewer and he was the one being an asshole. He’d scoff at my answers, roll his eyes, and make snide comments. The other guy didn’t even seem to notice.
