Am I depressed or do I just hate my job?
Depression is no laughing matter, the only thing is, it’s hard for the average person to tell if they’re actually depressed. Many people claim to be depressed when they’re not, they’re just sad. This is common in teens.
You may hate your job, you may hate it a lot, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you actually have depression.
Lasting feelings of hopelessness and sadness
When you’re depressed the sadness stays with you all the time. When you hate your job the sadness goes away once you leave your place of work for the most part.
So you may be depressed at work, but not depressed in general as you’re not sad in every aspect of your life, only one.
Losing interest in things
When you’re depressed it’s common for you to lose interest in things that you once enjoyed. They don’t give you that dopamine hit they used to, they don’t provide you with anything anymore.
Not being invested in your job is not the same thing. The job might be boring or you may not be interested personally in your field.
Many people aren’t interested in their jobs, it’s actually a little weird if you are.
