Approach every situation in life like you’re stupid
One of the biggest pitfalls that I and many other people fall into is that we think we know it all in a new situation before we’ve fully assessed what we have to do. This leads to dumb assumptions and problems that don’t need to happen. Plus you look like an arrogant idiot.
There is a balance between understanding that you don’t know everything and knowing that you’re not completely naive. Your experience will help you but you don’t know everything, and the best way to learn is to approach a situation like you don’t know much at all.
When you put your ego aside you’ll allow yourself to learn new things and be proven wrong. Being wrong is ok, we’re all wrong sometimes.
You never know everything
You have a lot of experience in an area but you’ve not experienced everything and everyone. The people you’re working with might change the situation drastically. When it comes to me and finance I don’t struggle with much when it comes to the tasks, but the people are hard, every time.
It’s hard to act like I can do everything when the people I’m working with might throw up challenges I’ve never faced before. I’ve never worked with people so lazy, but this is now a frequent problem.
