Are you uncomfortable sitting in silence?
Many people are uncomfortable sitting in silence to the point where they’re never in silence. It’s weird when you think about it; there are 24 hours in a day which is a decent amount of time, and you’re distracted throughout every hour bar sleep.
People are afraid of what might happen if they’re left alone with their thoughts. Their mind would think about all the things they’re desperate to suppress and that might bring them to a dark place.
I like sitting in silence as I’m sure many people who write on this website do. It’s good to sit alone with your thoughts and see where you are mentally. You find out what’s bothering you and think about what’s going on in your life in general.
I feel like many people miss out on life by never being alone in silence. Life experience isn’t life experience if you’re not taking the time to take in the life you’ve just experienced. If you’re distracted all the time you’re going to forget what just happened.
Being uncomfortable in silence is telling
Without doing anything else, not being able to sit in silence says there is a problem. Not being able to be alone with your thoughts says you’re scared of them, and you have to figure out why. What thoughts are making you run from them?
