Can a practical relationship be successful?

Can you be happy when you’re only dating each other for practical reasons? I’ve never been in a relationship like this so I don’t know how the day-to-day feelings would be. I only bring it up because of something I heard on a podcast a few months ago.

One of the hosts said that you only get one chance at love and if that doesn’t work you have to get practical. So in her eyes, if your first romance doesn’t work then you have to be practical about who you marry and forget about the lovey-dovey stuff.

As cold as this sounds a lot of people in the comments agreed. Bear in mind it was a female podcast and most of the viewers are women. I say this because men and women look at things like this differently.

It’s a lot of pressure though. Think about it, many of us screw up our first opportunity for love. We’re young, inexperienced, and dumb. But a lot of people struggle after the first love, no one makes them feel the same.

I know someone who was in a long-term relationship with someone they grew up with, but since they split they haven’t had a relationship since, and it’s been years. They’ve been trying too.

Do you agree?
