Can human psychology be universal when people vary so much?

People vary so much all over the world but modern psychology will tell you to treat people in a very specific way. It also teaches you to act in specific ways around people to get what you want.

As someone who’s tried this a lot, I can tell you that it doesn’t work all of the time. People vary too much so you have to learn about the specific people you’re dealing with. It’s no good acting in a specific way when it’s culturally disliked by the people in your current vicinity.

People vary from region to region

Even in your own country, people can vary quite a lot depending on what region of it you’re in. For example, people in the Midlands of the UK are a lot more laid back and friendlier than people in the South West of the UK.

These regions aren’t far apart at all but you’ll get a completely different experience when you speak to people from these areas. The people in these regions also have different beliefs and values which will affect how you’re treated as well.

Depending on where you are in the world you may get treated well or poorly without having to do anything. People will assume things about you based on how you look and dress and treat you accordingly.
