Dear employers, talent has choices
Managers are so arrogant, they think that when they bring in someone new they’re stuck there, forced to suffer through whatever they put them through. This is partially true, people who don’t have much talent or experience don’t have many options, but people with talent do.
The only issue from there is them realising that they have the talent and freedom to choose. If you’re mentally free it doesn’t matter where you are physically, and you’re more likely going to find a way out of a bad situation faster.
They’re not long-term thinkers
Managers who treat their talented employees like shit aren’t thinking long-term. Yes, in the short term, you can control this person and make their life miserable, but in the long term, they will quit. It won’t even be that long into the future as they’re smart and they have options.
Bullying people, no matter how covert you try and make it is always short-term thinking. People will always see what you’re doing to them eventually and you’ll have to suffer for it. Just this month Goldman and Sachs had to pay someone millions for their bullying environment. Lizzo has also had to suffer due to the way she humiliated her employees.
It might make you feel powerful now but when your employees retaliate you’re going to feel like a feeble…
