Don’t judge the food I eat at work

There are so many things to hate about the workplace, but one of the things that I think goes under the radar is the judgment of what you eat. I personally think food is like politics and religion in that it’s a difficult subject to speak about.

I will admit, I did comment on someone’s decision to buy the gold Haribos the other day. It’s not my proudest moment, but something had to be said. I have never seen anyone buy the gold Haribos and I am concerned for his mental health.

Food for a lot of people is not as simple as a means to fuel themselves throughout the day, but even the people who use it or fuel can get sensitive about the subject. There is more than meets the eye when it comes to food, like culture, religion, relationships, and much more.
So please, try and stop being a food snob at work.

The cultural aspect of food

Food is not just a means to give you energy throughout the day for a lot of people. For some, food is cultural, it is religious, and it’s something they’ve enjoyed with their communities their entire lives. It’s a way to get closer to people in that community and build a real bond.
