How focussing on money made me more mature

You might think that focusing on money would make a person more shallow and superficially focused, and that can definitely happen, but it’s had a different effect on me.

It’s made me get my life together because in order to achieve my money goals I need to be more mature. Other goals can allow you to be a little unstable, and some goals encourage you to be this way, but when it comes to making money, unless you’re lucky, you have to be calculated.

I need to keep a job

Now that I have money goals I need to keep a job, I can’t keep quitting whenever the kitchen gets too hot or I’ll have to start from scratch again. I’ve put up with some of the worst work environments I’ve had in years because I have no other choice. I can’t stop being in these environments unless I tolerate them for now.

Short-term pain will provide me with long-term freedom.

No quitting means more money, and it also means that I have to build up the steel to put up with the shit people give me. I’ve had to deal with some weird shit over the past year and I’ve come out a better person for it. Being a better person is part of the reason why I get so much shit as people are looking for a chink in my armour.
