How I beat debt collectors
Last year was rough, so rough I had to get an IVA. Getting an IVA wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t have massive knock-on effects for the rest of my life. It’s hard to get a new flat now because letting agencies don’t want to work with me even though their flat is worth a pack of chewing gum.
There was a point where I was getting chased by debt collectors left right and centre, and I had to get rid of them somehow. Paying them wasn’t an option because I didn’t have the money, and whilst I did think that some of the debt was made up at first, I was wrong, it was all real.
The reason I thought it could be fake was because I know that debt collectors will come after you in shady ways if you let them. Stay educated and keep track of what you owe.
It was parking fines that got sent to my old address along with energy bills debt from a different address. One thing this did highlight is how much I’ve moved around over the last few years. But in the end, the same thing happened that always happened.
I won (that totally doesn’t always happen).
