How much self-improvement content do you need?
Self-improvement content is hit or miss for me. When you’re first exposed to it then it blows your mind, as you’re like: “Finally, someone who gets it. There are other people who can see what I see”.
But when you’ve read your 5th book and 50th article, it begins to become similar and you get bored of it. You also realise that a lot of the shit in these books is nonsense and only there to fill pages.
Many people read self-help books, they’re one of the most popular genres of books (I have no idea if that’s true or not, but it sounds true), but most people don’t improve much. They read the books, get inspired, and go back to the things they were doing before…
So they read another book, change for 2 weeks this time, and then slowly revert back to the same person again. There is a lot of consuming of content, but there isn’t much change. At a certain point, you need to put the book down, switch off the podcast and get out there and live life.
Get specific
If you’re looking to improve in a certain area of your life then you need to get specific. There is a lot of self-help content that is a bit general and whilst they can be helpful, it’s not going to be specific to your needs.
