I don’t have the facts or figures but I know that a lot of people are bored at work and there are figures out there to back this up. There’s no reason to be bored professionally for too long, there are a million ways for you to be challenged professionally.

What’s stopping you from being challenged professionally is the fact that you yourself are scared of the challenge. You’re going to have to suck it up and make the leap and allow yourself no excuses.

Take A Job In A Field That Plays To Your Weaknesses

If you want a safe job then you should get a job that plays to your strengths. But if you want a real challenge then get a job that will require you to develop your weaknesses.

It’s the opposite of what most people tell you to do, but it’s going to make you grow professionally and personally or you’re going to be on the street begging for food.

I’ve done it a few times, and I’m actually doing it now. I job a job in sales despite being an introvert who isn’t the most expressive or agreeable, and we’re going to see how it goes. But after a few days on the job I can see already how it’s going to develop me as a person in areas I neglected.

Set Your Own Personal Goals

Instead of following the bullshit goals that your incompetent management team set. Set your own goals and always try to improve in areas that are actually important to you and the job.

Doing this will push you to not only be a better employee, but it’ll push you up the company as well. If your company does not give you the room to develop and achieve your goals, well, it might be time to leave and find a company that will.

Leave Your Safe Job

A lot of people when they’re young try to get a job that’s safe and cling to it as best they can for the rest of their life. Instead of taking that cowardly approach why not throw yourself into the big world and get a job that will test you.

I’m not saying quit without a plan or a job lined up, but quit as soon as you can and take on something that will require you to use your brain on a daily basis.

Stop taking autopilot jobs and take a job that will require you to think and exercise your brain. You want something diverse that will test you every day.

Start Your Own Business

If you really want to challenge yourself professionally then it’s best to go out into the world alone and see what you can create. Start your own business and don’t rely on anyone else to pay your bills.

It’s the ultimate test and it’s the hardest test. No matter what you decide to do, you’re going to have to be consistent and develop habits that keep you working hard to be successful.
