How To Deal With Intrusive Coworkers

Personally, nothing will make me leave a job faster than intrusive work colleagues. I don’t mind revealing things about myself but I’m not telling you my lives storey. You have no right to demand to hear it either, if someone says they’re not telling you something, they don’t need to have a good reason.

It normally happens because there’s no authority at work. No one has set any boundaries so the staff have set their own, which means there isn’t any.

They only want to know all there is to know about you because they want to gossip about you. Their lives are boring and shit, so they like to live through other peoples lives.

Be Upfront With Them

They may not like this or you for this, but establishing that you’re not down with their bullshit out the gate is needed. If you give them a little they’ll keep asking for more and more. They’ll feel like they’re entitled to it as well. You don’t want this as entitled people will fight you to death over some bullshit.

This may cause some tension and even give you a bad reputation, but these things never last if you show people on a daily basis that you’re a good person.

They’ll eventually accept that you’re not revealing all your personal secrets to strangers that have no right to hear them.
