How to quit a job you hate but need

You’re stuck in a job that you hate but you desperately need, or you’ll be on the streets. This job is making you miserable and most people you work with are a cancer on society, but you can’t figure out how to get out. Don’t worry, there is always a way out of a shitty situation, you may have to make some sacrifices though.

Getting help from others

If you can’t afford to pay your bills if you quit, perhaps there is someone in your life that can help you in the short term. It’s not nice to ask, I’ve been there myself but it’s for a good reason and you should be able to pay them back unless your bills are insane.

Maybe you could even move in with them temporarily, like your parents. It’s a little embarrassing I’ll admit, but it’s better than showing up to this dump every day.

Assessing your skills

If you’re already in a specialised job, then there is no need to do this. In fact, you shouldn’t even be in this situation unless you specialise in something so specific that barely anyone needs it.

If you’re not specialised then see what you can do and examine that against what you want to do and see if you can become a specialist. It’s not as technical as I’m making it sound.
