How to quit a job you hate nicely

Quitting your job is awkward when you like it, but it’s even more awkward when you don’t hate the job and want to leave in peace. I don’t think there is a real way to leave a job nicely, someone is always going to be offended or have their ego hurt.

Give them notice

Give them the full notice even if you don’t have to. You never have to give full notice, I don’t give companies any so I can take a week off between jobs. But if you want to be nice, give them the 30 days or whatever they’re requesting and behave no matter what they try and subject you to in that time.

It’s not you, it’s me

Take the blame even if it’s not your fault. You’ve probably annoyed someone by leaving, so placing blame will hurt them even more, even if it’s true.

Take all the blame and make out it’s a selfish move by yourself or you’re the problem. It doesn’t look good on you competency-wise, but you’ll save them from facing the harsh truth. No one wants to accept responsibility.

Accept the leaving nonsense

There may be some bullshit that you have to face in between the time that you’ve said you’re leaving and the time you’ve actually left. They may act spitefully or they may throw out the red carpet and try and convince…
