How To Talk An Employee Out Of Quitting

If you’re in a situation where you’re begging for an employee to stay then you must be pretty desperate. You’re probably in a situation where you don’t have a replacement and no one else at the company knows how to do their role.

Your first mistake was not having a backup if someone left. There’s always a chance of even the most loyal employees leaving, and not having a contingency plan is dumb. You deserve to lose this employee but I’m going to give you some advice anyway.

Don’t Lie Or Make False Promises

Lies and false promises probably got you into this situation in the first place, so trying that shit again will only drive your employee even further away.

When you’re trying to convince someone of something it’s important to be as authentic as possible. Be a bit vulnerable too if you need to be. The best way to connect with someone is by being open and honest.

For the love of God, don’t try to fake authenticity. They will see right through it, and even if they don’t at the time and you convince them to stay, you’ll be back to square one in a few months.
