“I hate my job so much it gives me anxiety”
It’s crazy to think that you could have a job that gives you anxiety, it’s just a job. All you do is show up somewhere for a few hours and do a few menial tasks. But it happens to many people, me included, for various reasons.
People talk a lot about wellness at work, but work is often the thing that destroys people’s mental health. Employers don’t want to have that conversation though; they only want to put posters on the wall.
The people
People are probably what cause anxiety more than anything else in a job. Sometimes you get what you thought was a great opportunity, only to discover that you’ve been led blindfolded into an alligator pit with no weapons to fight them off.
People are trying to bully you, they’re trying to ruin your reputation, they’re trying to stalk you, and all you want is to be able to do your job and go home. What’s so complicated about that?
Speaking to your boss is useless and so is talking to HR, aka a waste of company resources.
Fighting constant social pressure all day is only naturally going to take its toll on you emotionally. It makes it hard to trust people in your personal life as well.
