I have closure about being a tradesman

I was told as a kid by both my parents to become a tradesman, it didn’t matter what type of tradesman, I just needed to become a tradesman. I spent a year doing Motor Vehicle Engineering at college and then didn’t go back because I didn’t enjoy it. Then I bounced around from temp job to temp job until I ended up finding a career of sorts.

I’ve always wondered if I could be a tradesman because I hate working in the office so much. A part of me has always wondered if I should have become a tradesman as it may have suited me better.

Now I have closure as I got to be one temporarily before my current job started.

The mission

I went undercover as a tradesman. I didn’t tell them my real career history or anything much about myself, I pretended I hated some tradey career beforehand. It wasn’t hard to convince them I was legit although the signs I was different were obvious.

I quickly realised my stuff was too well-kept for one. One guy asked me “Why did you bring a new bag with you?” I said it wasn’t new then I realised it looked new due to it not being poorly maintained like a tradesman would have it. I had to then get it a bit dirty which was easy as they rested their feet on it in the van whilst we were driving.
