I like being seen as weird
Many, and I mean many people have called me weird in my life. When I was a kid I took offence to it and got defensive, but as I’ve gotten older I can see the value in being weird. I’d rather be weird than what is considered normal. Normal people are generic and boring.
There was a time when all I wanted to do was fit in, I think we all go through that phase. Now I want to be myself as fitting in doesn’t get you anywhere.
The main thing I get called weird for is being myself and not being what people expect me to be. People expect me to be one thing, but I’m something that’s far from that and people find that jarring.
They struggle to relate to me and find out what gets me interested. The answer is tough because it’s not much. I don’t respond to things in the way they expect and I laugh at things that usually make people insecure.
It’s hard to manipulate someone who you don’t understand and a lot of human interaction is about manipulation.
Being considered weird should be an aim in life. If you’re not weird then you’re like everyone else and that means you’ve conformed. But don’t be one of these try-hard weirdos, that’s a level of cringe I can’t describe.
“Being weird is my entire personality, look at me. Look at me! LOOK. AT. ME!”
