If you want good candidates speed up your recruitment process
Dear recruiters,
I hope this Medium post finds you well.
This is an open letter to you about your recruitment process and how to attract the best candidates. No, I am not a recruiter myself, I actually have a real career as I’m not a failure and a disgrace to my family. But as someone who’s been through the recruitment process more times than they would like, I’ve learned a few things.
One of the most important things that I see that causes companies to miss out on employees is recruitment processes taking a long time. If you’re looking for the best and brightest, which I know many of you aren’t, you have to speed things up a bit.
Quality candidates have options, they’re not all standing around waiting for you, there is an entire world of companies out there that pay just as poorly as you do. Quality candidate’s emails and phones are full of other recruiters lying to them in order to get them to go elsewhere.
Smart people don’t wait around, especially if they’re goal-driven. Goal-driven people know they can affect the world with their actions, so they will push elsewhere if they come up against a brick wall, which in this situation is you.
Waiting around going through a long recruitment process is offputting as well. I understand it in some cases, but in others, it’s just down to poor organisation and lack of knowledge of how to do a job properly, which reflects on the organisation.
Anyway, I hope you take this feedback on board, and instead of blaming the candidates you realise that once people upload their CV, they don’t want to fill in a candidate profile with the exact same information.
Have a good week.
Kind regards,
An Ordinary Man
