I’m 29 today, here’s 5 things I’ve learned about the world, and 5 things I’ve learned about myself
I’m 1 year away from 30 and I don’t care. Maybe I’ll be having a crisis this time next year, but for now, I’m pretty comfortable about it. “Age is just a statistic” is what a janitor in a catalogue company once interrupted my conversation to tell me, and who’s wiser than a janitor who doesn’t respect that other people are talking?
I’ve felt like I’ve lived about 4 lives up to now, and now I’m about to begin my 5th. In that time I’ve grown and been destroyed a few times and it’s taught me a lot about the world, and the people in it. But more importantly, I’ve learned a lot about myself.
I can’t control the world but I can control how I react to it. I could write more than 10 points, but that would take too long and this entire Medium page is about what I’ve learned about myself and the world.
About the world
You decide how people treat you
It might sound strange as you can’t control another person's behaviour but you ultimately decide how people treat you. What I mean by this is if you put up with shit you’re going to get shit and if you don’t put up with shit people won’t fuck with you in the same way.
