My job gives me anxiety should I quit?
What is causing the anxiety?
Anxiety can be caused by a lot of things, so it’s important to nail down what it is exactly that giving it to you. It may not even be something that is totally work-related.
It could be your colleagues, some aspects of the job, your boss, the pressure, or something like not wanting to look like an idiot. Pre-existing anxiety problems are something to think about. I have social anxiety, and I realised that I was just going to have to deal with it as it wasn’t the company’s fault.
Once you’ve figured out what’s causing the anxiety, it’ll make your next moves a lot clearer.
What do you have to lose?
If you were to quit this job, what are the consequences? Will you be able to get another job quickly? Will you be able to pay the bills for a while? Will it look bad on your CV? Will it ruin your career?
You have to think about the knock-on effects that quitting will cause and weigh them up with how much anxiety that you’re feeling. You don’t want to leave your career and fall into obscurity as that could cause a whole new list of problems.
