Ahh depression, we meet at last. This is the first time I can say with confidence I am depressed. I’ve flirted with it before, but it’s finally become real.

And It’s because of my job — what a shock.

Being singled out for being black

As soon as I walked into the office I was singled out for being black. They always stare at me, I hear them talking about me constantly, and they laugh at me a lot. Managers, as well as normal staff, do it.

I haven’t done anything to stick out, but of course as the novelty black guy, all eyes are on me.

I seem to be getting judged more than others do, and again it’s because people are constantly looking at me. If you’re watching someone all day you’re going to find more things wrong with them.

I didn’t see before I applied that this company has a long history of discrimination complaints. They’ve even had 2 recent cases.

I was met with hostility

I was immediately met with hostility from some people on my team. I was slated for almost a month straight by people sitting next to me. I chose not to confront them because I’m fed up. I’ve just left a role with horrible people, and now I’m right into another.
