My Most Socially Awkward Job Interview

I can’t remember what the company did, but it was an admin apprenticeship, in a small office filled with middle agedwomen. I still remember my interviewers face. She was a lady with thick eyebrows and thick glasses to match, she also had jet black hair tied in a pony.

She was a very intense person, the type of person to keep asking you questions until she found a question that you struggled with and then kept pushing. People like this make every conversation feel like a high stakes police interrogation.

You can’t even talk about your weekend without feeling like you did something wrong.

*I had an interview like this recently with another lady with thick brows and glasses, luckily I’m in the position to reject jobs like this now.

The entire interview was awkward, but the bit at the end was horrible.

She left me in the office with a few of her colleagues and asked me to speak to one of them about the role and herself in general. We spoke briefly about a few things before the interviewer came back into the room. She then asked me to provide her with 5 facts about her colleague in front of everyone.

We spoke for about 5 minutes about light stuff so this was literally impossible. I was put on the spot, and everyone was listening to me stutter and blank on what to say. I could only name 1 thing.

It wasn’t only awkward for me, but also for the person I was speaking to as well because it seemed like I wasn’t listening to her.

She gave me this task to test how much I’d get along with the rest of the group apparently. I think she did it because she needed another outlet to be an awful person.

The sad thing is, if I got offered the job at that time, I would have taken it.
