Not everyone wants to start a pointless business

A few weeks ago I wrote a post that was a reply to a YouTube channel I followed. The guy on the channel was speaking about becoming rich and quitting his 9–5 job.

I’ve not had to unsubscribe now because it’s become too cringe for me to listen to, and he’s unintentionally sending a bad message to all 6 of his viewers. He sounds like a motivational speaker who’s not conscious of his actions or the consequences of them, so in other words he sounds like your average middle-class Brit.

What made me unsubscribe is this idea that you need to quit your job at all costs and start a pointless business to become rich. Your 9–5 is toxic and you’re a sheep if you like what you do for a living. God forbid someone finds peace in their job.

As someone who’s started a few of their own random businesses, it’s not all that it’s cracked up to be. In fact, it can be worse than having a 9–5.

What is a pointless business?

A pointless business is a business that serves no benefit to society other than economically and is a way for the owner to make some money. It’s not necessarily a bad thing as we need businesses, but with humans being humans some people do make harmful pointless businesses.
