Old people forget what it’s like to be young

It’s a right of passage, old people forgetting what it’s like to be young like they’ve had their minds wiped with that pen thing in Men in Black.

As I get older I understand this less as I can remember what it was like to think like young people and why I did. I’m not that old, but there is a difference between being 19 and 29. But I’m not going to pretend that I never had the same thoughts, beliefs and desires.

Some older people love to act like they’ve always been who they are. They’ve always had the wisdom, they’ve always had the knowledge, and they’ve never made a mistake in their lives. “Kids are dumb, why don’t they just… [Insert something unrealistic that they wouldn’t have been exposed to yet]

I see this happening to people who are growing up around me. They’re hitting 30 and they’re disconnected from the youth. It’s a good and bad thing I guess. It’s good their mindset is getting older but it’s not good that they’re forgetting the past. It causes a lot of the disconnect we see today.

Old people have the power but they change things to suit them and disregard the youth. I don’t think the world should be fully adjusted to the young and older people be forgotten about. There needs to be a balance.

This balance could happen if older people considered young people more and allowed themselves to remember what they were like when they were their age. Young people also need to respect the fact you can’t disregard people because…
