People are people wherever you go, but people change where you go

Someone on one of my posts a few months ago wrote a comment saying something along the lines of: “People are people wherever you go, so you have to learn to get along with them”.

When I read this the first thing I thought was: “Yeah, you’re right”, but I had another thought immediately after. People are people everywhere you go, but they’re not always the same everywhere you go. Cultural factors make different people and that makes them respond differently to you.

So whilst people are people everywhere, it’s hard to adapt and get along with all of them. Some people you’re just not going to mix with, and I’ve spoken to people who’re currently depressed and can’t get out of bed because of this.

Adapting to people is a skill

Being able to adjust and adapt to the different people you meet throughout your life is an incredibly hard skill to master, especially if you want to be yourself. Compromises can be made, but at the end of the day, if you’re going to be yourself then some people aren’t going to like you.

Then you have the people who have a prejudiced belief about who you are. So you’re going to have to do some extra convincing to prove to them that you’re one of the good ones. Some people just don’t like certain…
