Sometimes all you can do to help people is be a good influence
As I get older I am moving away from helping people directly. It’s not because I hate people or that I want to see certain people suffer, but I understand that it’s not my place. A lot comes with helping people and it’s not worth it most of the time.
People are gonna do what they’re gonna do and I can’t control them. You can give people advice and you can help them, but at the end of the day, it’s up to them to help themselves from there. You can’t be a crutch to people, not even your kids.
If people want to find an answer to a problem they’re going to look for it. The people who ask for help but never take action are looking for attention, not real solutions.
Trying to be the hero
I’ve given up trying to be the hero and helping people too much. I wanted to find a cause and focus on that for the rest of my life but I’ve realised that’s not the best way to help. It didn’t feel natural either and it was something that I was doing for my ego and because I thought it might be fun.
I wanted to help people who are stuck in poverty because I have had so many money issues in my life. I can’t help people with their finances unless they want to help themselves. If someone wants to help themself then they don’t need me.
