Sometimes you have to let people hit rock bottom in order for them to change — or die
Right after I stopped speaking to my Insta crush, another woman reached out to me on IG. The reason I bring this up is because she reminded me of her in the way that she messaged me with long block paragraphs and was only concerned about herself.
She messaged me due to a comment I left on an Instagram post about work and career. I can’t remember the post or what I said but our conversation revolved around difficult people at work and it forcing you to quit.
She said a lot of things that resonated with me and being that she was a young attractive black woman in a place where she stood out, I could see why. It felt like she was reading off my Medium page, she was living the same work life as me but in America.
I wanted to help and I like speaking to interesting people.
Who was this girl?
She was born in the UK but was forced to move to the US when she was 15 by her family. She was now in her early 20s and was a few years out of uni/college. She lived in North Carolina by herself in a flat she couldn’t afford because she was unemployed.
She was depressed and said she didn’t get out of bed because of it, but if you looked on IG you’d think she was living the life…
