Some people are very comfortable in their place of work, so comfortable they decide to make their workplace like a second home — literally. Anyone who’s ever had roommates knows that this is a massive mistake.

And what if multiple people take this approach? It’s all going to kick off.

The workplace is not all about you

To make the workplace your home means making the workplace all about you. You’ve decided to mark your territory and make this building yours. You’ve forgotten that there are many other people in this building that don’t want to live like you.

They have different tastes and your preferences aren’t going to always be beneficial to the business. You’re going to have to make compromises, and I’ve never seen anyone who’s made their workplace their home happy with compromise.

It makes everything more personal

When you make the workplace yours, you’re putting a bit of yourself into it. So whenever someone disagrees with you it’s going to be a little more personal. All of a sudden, moving items around isn’t just nothing. Someone has come into your home and moved your things around, that is unthinkable.

I’ve seen people have meltdowns when they haven’t had things the way it is at…
