The First Month At My New Job
I was going to write a post about my first week at my new job, and I was glad I didn’t. Things haven’t changed massively, but a month at a new job gives you a much better and clearer perspective.
It’s Bearable
The good news is that I don’t think I’m going to quit this job, it’s bearable enough for me to stay at least a year. I think my perspective has contributed to this as well. I’m more willing than ever to stay and forge a career here. Not being depressed helps too.
I still hate working for another person, and I hate work culture in general, but at least I won’t need to quit anytime soon throwing me back into poverty.
The People
People at this company, like most other jobs I’ve had here, are uncomfortable around me initially. It’s hard to break down that barrier as again, the people in this place don’t have much of a sense of humour. Humour is normally what I use to bond with others, but the people here take themselves, and life in general too seriously. They have no concept of satire and take everything at face value.
People here will ask you a question making me think they want a conversation, only to just stare at me after my response. I think they’re figuring me out, not realising that they’re making it incredibly obvious that they’re up to…
