The Personal Boundary Continuum

A Self-Reflection Tool

Self-reflection is a powerful thing, and I have found a tool to make it even more powerful. I’m going to share my self-reflection with you so I can’t escape the reality of who I am. But that’s what I always do.

This tool is about personal boundaries, and I’ve written about how boundaries are important and will actually save your life. But there is such a thing as too strong of a boundary. If your walls are tall and strong then no one can get in and you’ll be alone.

People get like this after bad experiences as it’s a solution to the problem, but it causes more. You have to open yourself to being hurt in relationships, unfortunately.

You have to remember that you’re different in different situations as well. I am pretty open with people in my personal life but I’m rigid with people professionally. This makes it hard to determine how healthy my boundaries are.

Line 1

Honestly, I could fall into all 3. There are times when I have difficulty saying no to people, sometimes it’s when people catch me by surprise. Other times it could be at work when someone puts me in an awkward situation.

If I’m ignorant to something sometimes I’ll say yes initially until I get more information and then I’ll say no.
