There is nothing wrong with a midlife crisis
When people think of a midlife crisis, they think of a person who’s panicking about their age and can’t accept the fact that they’re getting old. This is true, when you get to a certain age you think to yourself “I don’t have much longer” and you begin to think about all the things you haven’t done.
But this isn’t a bad thing, it’s a good way to think about life at this time. If you’re not considering your existence then what are you doing? I do this all the time now and it has allowed me to get a lot of stupid decisions out of my system so when I’m middle aged I won’t need to panic so much… hopefully.
The only things I’d like to do are live abroad, study a field in depth, start a family and get rich. I wouldn’t say that my goals are a big deal.
Self-reflection is important
Most people don’t reflect much so whenever you decide to do it, it’s a good thing. People go through life with some belief that following societal norms will bring them prosperity, despite the fact that history has taught us many times that this isn’t true.
The person you were when you last reflected might be a very different one than you are now. I believe that most people stop reflecting somewhere in their 20s and let life consume them. They get into a comfortable routine and…
