What companies can learn about high-achieving staff from Ronaldo’s situation at Manchester United

Ronaldo recently had an interview with Piers Morgan where they discussed his current feeling towards Manchester United, some of the people at the club, and some of the people outside of the club that have been slating him.

People don’t see football clubs as companies and employers but they are. Just like the Teco you work for, football clubs are employers and you get many of the same issues that come up in normal jobs.

You’ve heard the media’s take on things and seen the NPC football fans' comments, so let’s look at things from a high-achieving employee’s point of view.

Lying to get talent in the door

When Ronaldo joined United I’m sure he was made certain promises. I’m not sure what they were as I was not in on those meetings, but you can hazard a guess as to what some of them were.

I imagine he was promised United would compete and had ambition, if not he’d never had joined as Ronaldo is incredibly ambitious.

When he got to the company (or club) he found that they had no ambition, they just thought they did. What they really had was bad employees with bad attitudes, bad facilities, poor structure, and a lack of investment in staff.
