What happened after I was hired because of Looks?
Last year I was hired at my current company because of my looks. I didn’t want to write about this because writing about my looks makes me cringe a bit, but this is my journal and I should try and be as honest as I can.
I am a man by the way, and I was hired by an older woman about 10 years my senior, who I now know isn’t fit to be a manager in any shape or form, but that’s a different story. Honestly, I knew from the interview that she was sketchy, when I saw the state of her teeth that told me all I needed to know about her character.
After the interview I started applying for jobs again so I didn’t have to end up here. But I didn’t get a job and now 7 months later she is the worst manager I’ve ever had.
Being good-looking is a gift and a curse. Whilst you do get privileges sometimes and people want to be your friend more, you get more bitter people coming for you and a lot of negative assumptions are made about you.
You also have to deal with the entitlement of people attracted to you. Some people think that if they have a crush on you, you now owe them something (work that out). If you don’t give them the time of day, then all of a sudden you’re a terrible person.
