What to do when you are no longer happy at work
This is a feeling that many of us have at one stage or another in our careers. You’re no longer happy at your current job and are unsure what to do. You don’t want to be too rash as this is your livelihood we’re talking about. So what is the best approach to take?
Find the cause
Whenever you’re not happy about something, you need to find the reason you’re not happy so you know what to change. Luckily work is not the hardest place in the world to pinpoint why you’re not happy.
It’s normally right in your face and it has been for a while. But sometimes you’re too close to a situation to see it for what it really is and you need to step back.
What you do want to know is if it’s something in your personal life that’s affecting your job. You might think that you’re sick of your job but it could be something unrelated that’s causing you to hate other aspects of your life.
Give it time
Sometimes a rough patch is just that, a patch, and you need to give things time to improve on their own. I’ve had jobs where I hated it for a spell, but I just had to get through a hard period and things got better.
