When someone’s part in your story is over
We all have our own stories and they continue until we die. Some people's books are more interesting than others.
Some people's stories are:
“He jerked off, he played video games until early hours of the morning, he broswed the internet for a few hours before going to bed to cry himself to sleep. It was his most productive night of the week.”
Within those stories, we meet a lot of different people but most of them don’t stay. If you think about all the people you interact with in your life it’s only 0.01% of them that stay and slightly more who have any sort of impact on you.
When certain people leave your life they’re never coming back so it’s the end of this person in your story. It can hurt in some cases, but in others, it feels like you’ve escaped captivity. It depends on who this person was and what role they played in your life.
Thinking about it, even a person you pass on your way to work plays a part in your story. It’s not big or consequential, but they’re a constant presence whilst a person you fell in love with might be gone forever.
