When you get older but not wiser

A lot of old people assume that you should listen to them purely because they’re old. They will tell you that they’re wiser than you because they have more life experience or some shit.

Whilst this is true, they do have more life experience, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re any wiser than someone in their 20s. Just because you’ve been through something doesn’t mean that you’ve learned from it, that takes a conscious decision which a lot of people just won’t make.

Someone in their teens can be wise if they’ve been through things and have taken the time to understand what their experience meant.

Being in the same place for your entire life

Some people live life in survival mode, but they do it from a place of self-preservation. Instead of cutting others down and gunning for the top, they get what they can and cling on to it with all their might. They gun for the bottom in a way.

An example of this is people who are in entry-level jobs their entire careers. They were happy to get any job when they were young and instead of learning anything new to improve their position they desperately kiss ass instead, in hopes their manager will like them enough not to fire them.
