Where should I move in the midlands next year?
When my lease is up in 6 months’ time, I’m going to be leaving Cheltenham. It’s not because I don’t like here, Cheltenham to me is the best town in the UK. I’m leaving for a few reasons and trying to use my head instead of my heart.
The main reason is that it’s too close to Gloucester. Living close to Gloucester means that I will most likely have to keep working there, and Gloucester is one of the worst cities I’ve ever been to. I am going to get into why in another post.
Another reason is because of how much it costs to rent here. Don’t get me wrong, compared to the rest of the south west, you get a lot for your money here. But I’m still in debt and I’d like to be out of it sooner rather than later, so I’ve been making more financially savvy decisions recently. Moving to a cheaper area nearer more lucrative opportunities is one of them.
The last reason is because it’s in the south west, and I’d like to get as far away from here as possible. It’s a narrow-minded nightmare full of bitter conservative yokels. I could live here but it’s a real grind as the people are so spiteful.
I’ve got a shortlist of 3 places in and around Birmingham I wouldn’t mind living in. I’ve got 3 choices because if I only have 1 choice there may not be any flats available there next year and I don’t want to be in a scramble to find an alternative.
