Why are certain football players hated so much for seemingly no reason?

On social media, you’ll occasionally see a post come up that shows footballers with 0 haters. They’re players like Kante, Modric, and Ronaldinho. But most of the attention goes to the players who get all the hate.

Every week you’ll see the same players getting shit, even if they haven’t played.

Sometimes you can see why certain players get hated on, but others get hated for small reasons and in some cases, no reason at all. I’ve been noticing a trend between players who get hated on and the ones who don’t, and I think it’s a societal problem that you experience in all walks of life.

It’s all about appearances.

Their looks

I’ve noticed that players who look a certain way get more hate out of the gate than other players. It’s normally more eccentric-looking players who have haircuts or a style that’s “bigger” than the average person of the country they’re playing in.

Just this season I saw people throw a shit ton of hate on Onana at Man Utd before he even kicked a ball. I think it’s because he’s got an eccentric style and because he’s an eccentric style of goalkeeper. His character was being questioned by people who knew nothing about him.
