Why being educated is misleading

Education is a great thing and I think that people should look to educate themselves every single week of their lives until they die. Yes, I do genuinely believe this. This is so you can retain some skills and knowledge and develop more. Knowledge is all you have when times get tough.

But being well educated doesn’t mean that you know everything and it doesn’t mean that you’re necessarily smart. There are so many other factors at play. I don’t think I’m particularly smart, but I work to get all I can out of my brain every day and it’s paid off.

Being educated doesn’t mean you’re smart

A lot of people who went to a good school automatically think that makes them smart. This is why many people want to go to the best schools and put their kids in them, they think their kids are going to be more intellectual.

I hate to break it to you but this isn’t true. Yes, a good school and more importantly a good teacher can unlock more potential in a student, but they won’t make them any smarter. If they’re a window licker now they’re most likely always going to be one.

I worked with a slow guy who went to a good school recently, all that happened was he got bullied and he got a good career out of it. He’s full of fear and trauma, but hey, at least he won’t struggle in the…
