Why British people can be hard to like
Growing up in the UK I’ve had friends from all over the world, it’s one of the best things about this country. You get to meet people from everywhere, learn about their cultures and experience different outlooks on life.
I love hearing what it’s really like in a place like South Africa for example, from a South African instead of only reading about it or hearing rumours from a zombie.
When I was a kid I didn’t live in a diverse town but I still had friends from all different backgrounds. My friendship group at school was even nicknamed “The Minorities” due to all the diversity.
Most of my friends naturally have been British, but as I’ve gotten older that’s started to change again and I find it much harder to be friends with British people. It’s not something that I’ve consciously made an effort to make happen.
That’s not to say there aren’t some great British people and there are many traits that I’d take in a British person over some other cultures all day long.
There are a few clear reasons for not making good British connections and one of them is developing as a person.
Developing self-esteem
When you start to value yourself and develop a healthy level of self-esteem, your circle changes and so do the people…
