Why diversity and inclusion does not work
We keep hearing about diversity and inclusion nowadays and for good reason, some of these homogenous cesspools need to be stopped. People should also have a fair chance at reaching the top, or even getting a job regardless of what they are.
The only thing is that we’ve let one group take charge of this issue in the workplace, and it’s the group that tends to take the lead without actually speaking to the people that this issue affects.
This has resulted in a completely rushed mess of a system that clearly isn’t working. It’s all about image and lacks any substance. You can’t rush things like this or paper over the cracks.
It lowers the quality
Not all people are equal in ability, some people are better than others at certain jobs. This has nothing to do with what they are, it’s just that some people have more talent or are better qualified. Hiring people for jobs just because of what they are risks lowering the quality of the company, causing everyone to suffer.
Some companies will hire a person to tick a box, but the thing is that this person may not actually be good at what they do. This is fine for entry-level jobs but it’s horrible for jobs that actually make a difference. You need people who can actually do the job well regardless of what they are.
