Why diversity is bad for business

Diversity is good for society in my opinion, but it’s not always best for business, not forcing it anyway. If you’re going to hire someone of a different background for your company then make sure that you’re doing it because they add value, not because it makes you look more progressive or because you’re trying to be nice.

It lacks substance

Many companies hire a diverse variety of people purely because it makes them look good. What this means is that their image improves but that’s all. They probably aren’t going to give these employees a real chance and they’re definitely not going to listen to them, so they don’t provide anything else of value.

There’s no substance to any of the diversity they’ve acquired except they have some people to use for pictures on their website.

You see this all over the film industry. They throw diversity into films and TV shows and think that they’re doing some forward-thinking shit. People love to rave about it but they won’t actually watch any of the films or TV shows because they know it’s going to be garbage.

It can lower quality

Hiring people for reasons other than the fact they can add value to your company will risk lowering the quality of your company as a whole. 1 or 2 people are fine, but soon…
