Why do I need to go on holiday?
Is going on holiday something we need to do or is it something that we’re pressured to do as privileged people? Some people can’t afford to go abroad on holiday and it doesn’t affect them, why has it all of a sudden become a necessity?
I am a person who’s interested in the world and how it works, but I don’t have a burning desire to go anywhere.
Yeah, it might be interesting to see how different cultures work up close, but what am I going for? Because I can? I believe in doing things for a real reason as that’s how you live an intentional life.
As a kid, I rarely went on holiday and never felt like I was missing out on much other than the ability to tell people I went away. I used to lie about my holidays so I wouldn’t look like a loser, I didn’t care about the actual experience.
When it comes to going away I don’t know what I’d do half the time. I find touristy stuff boring and the other stuff is pretty much like stuff you have at home but slightly different. I’m supposed to be excited about eating pizza in Italy when it’s still only pizza, I’m not 7.
