Why I stopped tracking my credit score
People will tell you that you need a perfect credit score so you can take out loans and credit cards and get yourself into debt. You need to make sure that you’re managing your debt well so you can take out more and stay a debt slave.
I used to think there was some purpose to a credit score, but the more I learn about personal finance, the more I see it’s pointless. All it does is provide you with a random number based on what it thinks you do. It doesn’t even have all your debts in the system and it lacks context.
It doesn’t even get all the information right and it’s a ball ache trying to change it. The only time you should care about your credit report is when you’re taking out a mortgage. You shouldn’t need it for other things as you should be avoiding loans.
Don’t let the scammers fool you, there is no reason to have a credit card.
Paying to see your score
I always found it ironic that you had to pay to see your credit score, and that’s the biggest indication that it’s a scam. You want me to spend money to see if I’ve been managing my money correctly. You can see it for free through third parties like The Money Saving Expert, but I don’t know if that’s commonly known.
