Why is it so hard to find a career?
I’m writing this after finally getting another job, the 4th of this year I think. This year started with so much promise and nearly ended in disaster. But what I will say is, I don’t think I’ve ever learned so much and I’m more confident than ever about my future.
Life is not easy, and for me personally finding a career is one of the hardest parts. I don’t think I’ve ever met so many horrible people in my career. For the first time, I think I was bullied.
You’re lied to so much
You’re lied to so much about the working world when you’re growing up that it’s actually sickening. It’s not about grades, qualifications, or working hard. It’s more about who you are and being in the right place at the right time.
A lot of people get lucky in their careers and end up in good jobs that they didn’t intend to be in. They just happened to know someone or their first job out of education that was supposed to be a stopgap ended up being great.
If you want a good career you need to be a self-starter and put in the effort outside of work. You’ll also go so much farther being liked. You also have to learn the “game” and therefore how to play the “game” on a higher level.
