Why side hustles are a necessity for me

For many people side hustles are a dream that they never get around to, they’re always too busy with other things — like lying to themselves. For others, side hustles are a way to make some extra money on the side for leisure or savings. Other people have a side hustle because they are looking for a way to make it out of their 9–5.

Then there are people like me — people who have a side hustle because they can’t afford to not have one. Being in financial trouble has forced me to learn how to hustle and motivated me to grind.

I can’t afford my bills without one

If I was to quit my second job and give up my side hustle I wouldn’t be able to pay my bills. I’d be several hundred pounds behind and I can’t exactly take out a second IVA. It’s insane that I’m in this position after getting an IVA but that’s the UK for you, companies and the government will do anything to make a penny out of you.

Since I got my IVA the cost of living has risen again, plus my car has broken down. Also, energy companies are chasing me for money I don’t owe, and I got 2 parking fines that have increased massively because got sent to the wrong address. I will admit the last one is my fault.
