You can tell a lot about a person by what they’re impressed by

What someone is impressed by tells you a lot about them and what they’ve been exposed to throughout their life. Some people just haven’t gotten out much and so are impressed very easily. This might sound dumb but I imagine it’s nice to be like this, life still has some wonder.

Then you have the people who have had lots of life experience. Life doesn’t have that spark that it once used to, so they may go chasing new experiences to fill a void. As someone who has been bored in life fairly recently, this feeling can make you do some weird shit.

When insulated people try to impress you

When people who’ve lived in a bubble try to impress other people who live in a bubble, it works. They can say just about anything to impress these people because they don’t know any better. This is why you sometimes get a group of people in awe of a boring story that’s clearly made up.

When they try to impress someone who’s had some life experience then their efforts often fall flat on their face. It’s hard to impress someone that’s always exposing themselves to new things so they’re not going to be impressed by a person who is impressed easily themselves.
